Jakarta, April 16, 2010 - TELKOM extend their sponsorship with Garuda Bandung Basketball Club. The signing of the cooperation was undertaken by Consumer Director of PT. TELKOM I Nyoman G Wiryanata and The Director of Garuda Bandung Basketball Club, Simon Pasaribu in Pangeran Kuningan Hall, Grha Citra Caraka Building, Jakarta (4/15).
The signing ceremony was also attended by TELKOM CEO, Rinaldi Firmansyah and Garuda Bandung Club Builder, Andre Mamuaya. By the extention of the sponsorship, Garuda Bandung Club will take Flexi Brand as its middle name in the next two years on their match or public performances.
Rinaldi Firmansyah in his welcome speech hope that with support from TELKOM, Garuda Flexi Bandung (GFB) can win Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) this season. In the meantime, I Nyoman G Wiryanata said that through such cooperation, TELKOM intends to expand their market and add customers who come from youth segment, especially for Flexi.
TELKOM-GFB cooperation is aimed at motivating the youth generation to love sports, especially basketball and give their attention to the IBL competitions. Because basketball is a sport that has many fans, especially high school and colledge students. “TELKOM and GFB have set the schedule of school visits to share experiences through ‘coaching clinic’ activity attended by GFB star,” said Eddy Kurnia, Vice President Public and Marketing Communication.
Besides basketball, TELKOM also supported Indonesia's biggest bicycle race, Speedy Tour d'Indonesia in 2008 and 2009. TELKOM sponsored badminton championship too, the Indonesia Open, as well as some other sports.
