The strains of Happy Birthday song filled Auditorium Room 6th Floor at Menara TELKOM RisTI. In front of Head of R & D Center TELKOM RisTI, Taufik Hasan laid out on the table a ?nasi tumpeng?, which then cut off and handed to three TELKOM RisTI's residents whose birthday coincided with TELKOM RisTI, namely Sutardi, Agus Purwanto and Suharyanto Mulyono. Wednesday, June 18, 2003 , TELKOM RisTI attained the age of 24. A quite long journey that had been stepped over by a unit in PT TELKOM Indonesia, which born called Pusat Pendidikan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Telekomunikasi (Pusdiklitbangtel), on June 18, 1979 .

?Besides getting older, I usually feel that birthday commemoration means that we are getting more mature as well. We hope that RisTI ?s maturity -which starting from this year called R & D Center or TELKOM RisTI- keeps increasing,?said Head of R & D Center TELKOM RisTI, Taufik Hasan, speaking at TELKOM RisTI's 24th summit birthday commemoration, Wednesday (18/6) at Auditorium Room 6th Floor Menara TELKOM RisTI.

Party was started with the strains of ?Jayalah TELKOM Indonesia? song presented by three TELKOM RisTI's vocalists Lamhot SP Simamora, Ari Wibowo and Hezekieli Gulo, together with the music played by TELKOM RisTI.Group Band. Traditional Angklung Music presented by Saung Angklung Mang Udjo brightened up the atmosphere with various popular songs such as sundanese song Es Lilin, I have a Dream of West Life up to classical song Symphony Nr.40 of Mozart.

Taufik Hasan further again told all TELKOM RisTI residents that the challenges into the future is getting bigger. ?Getting older, more mature, we have to get better than before and more productive than before,?he added.

Taufik Hasan asked all TELKOM RisTI residents to keep improving competency to win the competition. ?Environmental changes such as telecommunication industry market, the presence of competitors, regulation change and any other complicating problems, we have to consider it all as a challenge. The direction is clearly described in Telkom Way 135 corporate culture, in line with Telkom's mission to become the dominant player in the region,?he explained.

?It means, we admit that there will be competitors and we resolved to win the competition and become the dominant one,?he added.

After its changing from Division into R & D Center, he continued, the challenge is getting bigger. ?We're asked by the corporate to perform this function in scope of product developer. Telkom has just one business, product selling. And we are there, in the process circle how the products can be utilized and maintained to be the excellent product,?he said.

End up his speech, Taufik Hasan again emphasized the need of cooperation or team work, avoid by sector issues, and always keep the harmony.

Series of TELKOM RisTI 24th birthday commemoration was started by relaxed walking activity from Dago to Maribaya on May 2, 2003 and continued with singing contest featuring Jayalah Telkom Indonesia song and sport competition, including ping-pong or table tennis. Lawn tennis, billiard, basket ball and fishing.

After the singing contest and sport competition ended, at the summit TELKOM RisTI birthday commemoration, all people at TELKOM RisTI were challenged to prove and show who has the widest insight at TELKOM RisTI in program ?Who Scarred Quiz?..????, with total prize worth Rp 4 millions. Various questions were asked, general knowledge and information, information on IT, TELKOM RisTI internal issues and Telkom generally.

Five groups (from 5 units at TELKOM RisTI- NWS, QRS, ADUM, ANW, RISBANG) with their various customs took part in the quiz, each group consisted of 15 members. Before competing at the quiz, each group had to present their respective ?opening dance? which was part of the competition. Grand Juries finally decided NWS Group as ?the best performance? and QRS Group as runner up.

Meanwhile, M. Veni Rahardja of ADUM was the quiz contestant who succeeded in making a way into the last stage. Unfortunately, Veni's struggle had to come to end at the 5th question of 8 questions submitted, with prize worth Rp 1,5 millions. *****[Source : TELKOM RisTI]
