CSR Telkom for Deployment of the Poor
Bandung, JULY 11, 2012, Roemah Kelinci located at Jalan Raya Padalarang Cisarua Km-3 Cijamil Ngamprah Kabupaten Bandung Barat, is a place of rabbits breeding. This business has been pioneered by an ITB alumnus to help support the poor in that area.
Telkom, through Environment Building, has also supported the activity by providing training and escorting to the participants mostly the poor in which the activity organized by Roemah Kelinci. Thepoor called KPK (1 KPK consists of 5 poor families) every week gather at Roemah Kelinci to have training and share know-how related to rabbits breeding.
SM. CDC Planning & Control, Aep Sunarya, representing SGM-CDC on Wednesday (11/7), attended the training program to participants from Pasuruan area of East Java. According to General Chairman of Cooperative Pondok Pesantren Daar Salaam (KPPD), Moh. Yusuf, S.Si (Gus Yus), rabbits breeding has been a special business in West Java since the colonial era, where rabbits were brought there. He also said the business was promising.
Rabbits breeding is profitable, there are 5 aspects of this business, first, in the breeding, a mother can have 6 to 9 litters, until end of productive period about 2 years, the mother may be made for other business, in this case the meat can be processed in the food industry having certain and open market.
Gus Yus also said that side income from the breeding was the urine, as the rabbits’ urine could be sold as an organic manure at Rp. 3.000,- per liter, and the waste from rabbit per 25 kg is around Rp. 30.000,- and that the skin can be sold overseas (to the Netherlands) at USD 20 per sheet, and the BUMN Minister Dahlan Iskan has also rabbits breeding business, said Gus Yus
