Jakarta, February 9, 2009 – As of Quarter III 2009 net profit of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) has grown significantly. Based on financial statement in Quarter III 2009, net profit of Telkom reaches Rp 9,3 trillions or grows 4.3% compared to the same period in year 2008.
As stated by Vice President Public and Marketing Communication Telkom Eddy Kurnia, in response to the statement of BUMN Deputy State Minister for Mining, Strategic Industry, Energy and Telecommunications (PISET), Sahala Lumban Gaol.
The mass media (such as detik.com and Bisnis Indonesia) reported that in the meeting with Commission VI DPR, Sahala Lumban Gaol gave a statement that during 2009 Telkom has recorded net profit at Rp 9.3 trillions or a decrease compared to the net profit of the previous year reaching Rp 10.619 trillions.
According to Eddy Kurnia, the statement does not tell the fact. Based on Consolidated Financial Statement (Unaudited) issued on September 30, 2009, Telkom has just raised its net profit at 4.3% compared to the same period in year 2008.
”The fact that in mid of tight competition of telecommunications industry, Telkom’s net profit grows significantly” said Eddy kurnia. The figure Rp 9,3 trillions stated by BUMN Deputy Minister is the net profit for the first 9 months (up to September) 2009, not the profit during year 2009. So, said Eddy Kurnia, the comparison may not be applied seen from aspect of time.
Looking at the performance progress in year 2009, it is possible for Telkom to record growth of net profit. As described by Eddy Kurnia, based on the consolidated financial statement (Unaudited), in Quarter III 2009, Telkom records revenue growth at Rp 2.465 billions or 5.52% compared to the previous period, most of which coming from the increase of cellular revenue at Rp 2.760 billions or 15.10%. Revenue from data, internet and IT services increases Rp 1.534 billions or 14.07%. Meanwhile, revenue from fixed wire line and interconnection decreases at each Rp 1.078 billions or 14.47% and Rp 899 billions or 13.54%. In year 2010, corporate target of capital expenditure/Capex is at Rp19-20 trillions or equals to two million US dollars.
